Most of the time when you hear of someone being an author, your mental visualizes someone like Stephen King, Maya Angelou or J.K. Rowling. An individual that's up in age, seasoned in literature, battle tested, right? Not saying we don't have young authors out there making moves, but the caliber of talent is limited. Well, let us introduce you to one of those young talents. In 2016 Autumn Jackson became a published author at the young age of 14. "Which Should I Choose" was the beginning of a fruitful starting career for the teenager. Half of us at the age the of 14 was too concerned with when the next pair of Jordans was coming out, but not Autumn. She astounded people with her writing skills, delighted interviewers on their broadcasts and made a name for herself in Chicago.
Autumn's passion for the literary arts expanded to the arts all together when she took up sketching and painting, but she continued writing. After finding out the lineage of this young talent, we understood the phrase, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree". Autumn's mother is Toneal Jackson, an award-winning author & life coach. With over 10 books under her belt, it was only right that her daughter follows in her footsteps. Autumn did exactly that when she turned her first novel into the "Too Much Drama" series. A tale of a young teen and the decisions that affected her life along with everyone else. Being a teen herself, the task was pretty much easy for the young authoress. Autumn's writing skills grew stronger with every book she published. Until she got to the point where just writing a story wasn't good enough for her.
"My mom inspires me to write but I also like to write when I want to escape reality."
Autumn's imitations of Houdini towards reality have taken on a life of its own. Her WIP (works in progress) will be a spinoff from the "Too Much Drama" series. There's no definite date planned at the moment, but "Descendant of my Father" is brewing in the Jackson's kitchen of storytelling. Autumn's no one trick pony as you can see, and her talents continue to prosper with a new venture she's working on. The now 20-year-old is an aspiring screenwriter and if her screenplay is anything like her books, we will see her name come across a screen very soon. The desire developed after finishing her 8-book series and like any writer, Autumn wanted to see her books adapted into a TV series. With the ambition and drive she inherited from her mother, waiting for someone to write the screenplay for her wasn't an option. Autumn's currently working on multiple screenplays now but "Too Much Drama" is her baby and she can't wait to put that one together.
"It felt great to hear her excitement about the book and beg for more stories. It encouraged me to keep writing."
Meeting fans have also been an inspiration for Autumn. Hearing the joy her stories brought about with her characters or just the story as a whole became a motivation for her. Autumn's first book signing when she released "Which Should I Choose" brought out that motivating force. It only fueled her more during her second book signing when she released her latest piece of work "Hopelessly Persistent". She doesn't have an exact date for her next book signing appearance but the anticipation from her and her fans are there. To know that the words she put together made a difference or transported her reader away from everyday reality for a brief time period, is a good feel moment. It's a joy to every writer or author to know their writings accomplished that with their readers.
The only downside to Autumn's readers right now is that her writings at this moment aren't exactly in the form of a book but rather in the form of a screenplay. The passion for creativity is still there thriving within her but just not as an upcoming book. "Descendant of my Father" is still on the table, and she promises to get it done for her avid fans.
